Introduction to the New Advanced FamilySearch
The Family Search Menu on the Toolbar has features to help you perform an advanced search to a new world-wide database. These features are only available to you if you register and are accepted by the New Family Search. This is an expanded search resource from the FamilySearch, in addition to the FamilySearch in Family Tree Heritage Platinum which provides access to billions of genealogical records.
How Do I Register for the New Advanced FamilySearch?
To register, go to familysearch.org and follow the instructions. Once you are accepted, you can use all of the features in the drop-down menu by entering your username and password. The features are described below.
When Will I Be Accepted to the New Advanced FamilySearch?
Once you have registered, check back on the website periodically to see if your username and password are active. There is currently no formal announcement or e-mail system to notify you of acceptance.
Once Accepted, How Do I Access the New Advanced FamilySearch from Family Tree Heritage Platinum?
Once you are accepted, you can use all of the features in the drop-down menu under the FamilySearch Tab on the Family Tree Heritage Tool Bar by entering your username and password.
What are the features available in the New Advanced FamilySearch Tab?
The features in the drop-down menu under the FamilySearch Tab are described below.
- Link (Sync) Me
Highlight an individual on the Pedigree or Individual View and click on this feature. It will provide a side-by-side comparison of your information with FamilySearch.
- Link (Sync)/Upload Individuals
Highlight individuals on the Pedigree or Individual View and click on this feature. It will upload their information and compare it to FamilySearch.
- Review Individual
Review information and research for individuals.
- View Person in FamilySearch
Review records and compare to FamilySearch.
- Link (Sync)/Upload Groups
Highlight groups on the Pedigree or Family View and click on this feature to try and match all of the records in your current database with FamilySearch.
- Unlink Individual(s)
Select individuals to unlink from FamilySearch.
- Check for Changes
Get updates and changes from FamilySearch.
- Import Family Lines
Import ancestor data to FamilySearch.
- Ordinance Reservation and Tracking System
A feature for members of the LDS Church.
How Can I Use Ancestry.com Searches from Family Tree Heritage Platinum?
Select this option from the drop-down menu with the individual you want to research highlighted in either the Pedigree or Family View screen. This will take you to a direct search on Ancestry.com. Accessing and/or printing specific records may require a subscription to Ancestry.com. Family Tree Heritage Platinum
includes a free 14-day trial subscription to Ancestry.com.

You are able to search billions of records to find ancestor information and records.
- If I do not have a subscription to Ancestry.com, can I access searches on this site from Family Tree Heritage Platinum?
Yes, you can still search this site directly from the drop down menu under searches on the tool bar, and find information. You may have to pay for a subscription to access and print some documents. Family Tree Heritage Platinum includes a Free 14-Day Trial to Ancestry.com
- If I already have a subscription to Ancestry.com, will I be able to access searches from Family Tree Heritage Platinum?
Yes, you can seamlessly use your log-in and password to access records on Ancestry.com from Family Tree Heritage.
