Descendant's View at a Glance Up to Six Generations
The Descendant’s view joins the Pedigree, Family, Name List, Individual, and Timeline view tabs along the top of the program. This gives you another way to view and navigate the records within your database.
Record Same-Sex or Non-Traditional Couple Relationships in addition to Traditional Couple Relationships
Version 16 separates the type of relationship from the status of the relationship. Relationship types now are Married, Not Married, Common Law, and de facto. The status of a relationship can be ‘blank’, indicating an ongoing relationship, or it could have terminated as Divorced, Separated or Annulled.
Share Custom Events with Anyone in Your Database
Easily share an event with other individuals in your database quickly with all the other members of your family, without having to individually add the event to each record.
Add Background Images on Charts

) Research TimelineThe research timeline is intended to help you see clues that will assist you in researching your family history. This new tool allows you to see the events in a person's lifetime. Sometimes, when you see pertinent events that may have affected your ancestors, it draws your attention to other resources you could look at to learn more about them. There are several pre-designed event groups to choose from, and you can add your own events, as well. The Timeline view is interactive: go ahead and click on names, dates, places to see how it responds. A Timeline report is also available for printing. |

The New FamilySearch
The Family Search Menu on the Toolbar has features to help you perform advanced searches for your ancestors to the largest genealogy database in the world. This database has recently
been opened to the public and is accessible from the interface of FTH.
Register on FamilySearch
If you haven't already registered on FamilySearch, you will need to register to access the
FamilySearch database. You can register at: www.FamilySearch.org. Go to the "Sign In" page,
then select the option to create an account. Use this new account ID and password to sign into FamilySearch from within Family Tree Heritage.
Make Sure Your Registration is Complete
If your registration is not successful, you will need to sign in to FamilySearch one time to activate your account, at www.FamilySearch.org. After this you will be able to login to FamilySearch from within FTH by selecting "Login" from the FamilySearch option on the Tool Bar.
Search for Ancestors on FamilySearch Directly from Family Tree Heritage
To perform searches for your ancestors on FamilySearch, highlight an ancestor on the Pedigree View and click the Tree Icon on the Tool Bar. The search will take place automatically to
FamilySearch.
Search for Ancestors on Ancestry.com Directly from Family Tree Heritage
To perform searches for your ancestors on ancestry.com from FTH, click on the trees listed next to your ancestor's name on the Pedigree View. The search will take place automatically to
Ancestry.com. If you don't subscribe to this website, you will not be able to access the records. This is included in the software for the convenience of many advanced Genealogists who
subscribe to this database in addition to FamilySearch, which does not require a paid subscription.
